FAQ
Calendar
questions.
Does an extension give me more time to pay?
No. An extension gives more time to file. Tax owed is due by April 15, 2027, and interest and penalties can apply after that.
Are these dates final?
The April 15 deadline for 2026 returns is published by the IRS. The 2027 estimated-payment dates follow the IRS schedule (15th of April, June and September, and January of the next year) and are confirmed when the IRS publishes the 2027 Form 1040-ES.
What about my state?
Most states with an income tax follow April 15, but not all. Check your state tax agency.
What if I live in a disaster area?
The IRS often postpones deadlines for declared disaster areas. Check the IRS disaster relief page for your county.
