Prior-year returns
Catching up on
past tax returns.
If you missed filing for an earlier year, filing as soon as you can usually limits penalties and interest when you owe. Booking is not open for prior years; ask in a consultation.
If you are owed a refund for a past year, you generally must file within 3 years of that return’s due date to claim it. After that, the refund is forfeited and the IRS does not notify you before it expires.

Talk to a specialistCan I still file a return from two years ago?
Yes. Past-due returns can still be filed, using that year’s forms.
Will I owe penalties?
There is no failure-to-file penalty when you are due a refund. If you owe, filing and paying as soon as you can limits penalties and interest.
